2025 NABIP NN Annual Summary of Chapter Accomplishments
2025 Northern Nevada Annual Summary of the Chapter Accomplishments and Achievements
by Chapter President Aliana Rushing
At the summer 2025 Annual National Convention, held in Miami, NABIP-NN won the 2025
Pacesetter Award, the 2025 Media Relations Award and the 2025 Website Award for a Local
Chapter. We were also recognized as a Platinum Certified chapter.
The chapter was also recognized as one of the top supporters of the NABIP-PAC with member
Don Goldmann getting personal recognition by being awarded a trophy for being a Triple
Diamond Level Capital Club member.
The success of the chapter came about from solid chapter management in all areas of chapter
activities including the most attendees ever turning out for our annual Benefit and Medicare
Exposition, monthly membership luncheons attended by the most attendees ever, twelve
monthly newsletter publications and more money raised for charity than ever before.
Chapter members participated in major national events with six members going to the Annual
Capital Conference event in Washington DC and five members participating in the Annual
National Convention.
On a statewide level, the chapter worked with state regulators to counteract the unfair trade
practices of carriers that are discouraging consumers to purchase certain Medicare plans by
limiting broker involvement, restricting access to plan applications and changing commission
schedules to make it impossible for brokers to present such plans since their E&O would not
cover their work on non-commissioned plans.
Programs and professional development made great leaps forward in terms of both the number
of continuing education credits provided and the advanced quality of the program.
Membership advanced and resulted in the chapter being moved one step higher in its
identification as a small group up to a medium size chapter in the national NABIP rankings.
The chapter’s social life was reinvented, and a night of glamor, dining and dance was held to
celebrate the 40th year of the chapter’s existence. The theme of the evening was “Glam” and
one of the highlights of the night was the crowning of the 2025 “Stuart Michelle Cause It to
Happen” winner, given to the chapter member who made the most significant contribution in
time and energy to support the chapter’s activities over the past year. The honoree was Merre
Gregory.
Related to the chapter’s social activities was the ongoing commitment to charities in the
community. In the past year, Northern Nevada supported “Kids Kottage” and the “Nevada
Youth Empowerment Program” with a total of $7,430 (split evenly between the two
organizations), which was raised by raffle ticket sales during every monthly membership
luncheon. In addition, the annual Christmas holiday annual charity event, held each year for the
local Reno “Ashley’s Toy Closet” raised over a hundred gifts for that organization to distribute to
children whose families cannot provide such blessings for those children.
Finally, the chapter celebrated during a recognition luncheon the 7 members who were named
by the national organization as LPRT honorees and 10 PAC contributors.
LPRT honorees were Jason Casey, Mike Dillon, Susan Edwards, Gina Espinal-Aguerre, Joy
Gardner, Ross Pendergraft and Mary Lou Urrutia.
The chapter’s PAC contributors included Georgana Cepeda, Grace Daidone, Michael Dillon,
Susan Edwards, Gina Espinal-Aguerre, Julie Ann Evans, Joy Gardner, Don Goldmann, Ross
Pendergraft and Mary Lou Urrutia.
It was a very successful year for our Northern Nevada chapter!
