“NABIP Gals” Bid Adieu to Most Valued Member
Behind every successful NABIP Northern Nevada event, there’s someone quietly making sure things come together — and for years, that person has been Doug Boulton from The Medicare Store.
Doug has been the steady hand behind the scenes: confirming speakers, coordinating vendors, helping shape topics, and showing up — without fail — for every 8 AM meeting. He’s followed through on every commitment with humility and reliability, never seeking the spotlight but always ensuring our chapter shines.
Doug has been part of our NABIP family for years, and it’s hard to imagine our chapter without him. Our community really does become like family, and saying goodbye is never easy. We are so grateful for his hard work, dependability, and quiet leadership — and so very sad to see him go, but we wish him so much luck in his new adventures at The Medicare Store in Phoenix, Arizona.
Thank you, Doug, for everything you’ve done and all the heart you’ve brought to our chapter. You’ll always have a home here.
NABIP Medicare Agent & Broker Town Hall: Preparing for AEP
Vice President of Legislative Affairs, Mary Lou Urrutia, reported to the chapter’s Board of Directors, that a new webinar is now available on the NABIP National website with extensive updated information about changes that are happening in this year’s AEP.
In particular, the recording of the Town Hall stressed the importance of the Agent/Client surveys for Medicare and the ACA. Links to those surveys can be forwarded to clients.
As the chapter’s Vice President of Legislative Affairs, Mary Lou feels that this Town Hall presentation is worth listening to, with lots of information on it from many people concerning the industry’s current times. Mary Lou urges the listener to have the PowerPoint slides open as they listen, since the slides are referenced a lot during the verbal comments.
In addition, the Town Hall drives home the importance of filling out the surveys and passing them on to your clients. The carriers are receiving federal funds for their plans, and these surveys show the importance of the broker helping the client.
Thru NABIP, brokers have a voice to show their importance to the client and go directly to our representatives letting them know what our clients are saying. NABIP takes this survey, organizes them by state and gets them to the representative.

October Luncheon Featured New Silver State Exchange CEO
Janel Davis, newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange, presented an in-depth analysis of key policy changes and operational updates for the Fall, 2025 open enrollment period.
Davis responded professionally, and in the friendliest of ways, to every inquiry and complaint from the brokers in attendance, who expressed deep concern about commissions, double digit rate increases and the fallout from dramatically reduced federal tax credits due to kick in at the end of the year.
It was also announced that due to fourth quarter sales activities, there will be no November luncheon program.
Thoughts From Our NABIP–NN President:

“A Moment of Gratitude”
During this busy open enrollment season, we are always lacking time. At work, we juggle serving our clients, scheduling our meetings, managing our business, and completing training and accreditations. At home, we have our families, our friends, and other commitments that pull us in every direction.
As a result, we’re left thinking: What’s next?
The next task, the next client, the next thing to do. Rarely do we pause long enough to appreciate the present — from the small comforts, like a warm cup of coffee on cold mornings, to the big blessings, like the unwavering support we receive from our loved ones during such a busy time.
Our work is important and the client-focused mindset we bring is essential. We all have the same 24 hours in a day — and while caring for our clients is important, so is taking time to soak in the joys that makes life full.
As we move through this season, let’s remember that our time is limited and precious. So, while our priorities this time of year are often for work, we should prioritize everything important in our lives: work, friends, family, and ourselves. Let’s live in the present and not get caught up with “yesterday” and “tomorrow”.
Because at the end of the day, the time we have now is one of the greatest gifts we’ve been given.
Happy Thanksgiving!
