Chapter Updates

NABIP National on the Move!

The new NABIP National Board of Trustees has been installed for the 2026-27 board year, running from July 1 to June 30 next year. President Mychal Walker announced the theme “Forward Together” during the 96th Annual Convention in Atlantic City. His focus was on guiding NABIP’s advocacy, professional development and member engagement. The list of all board members can be found at https://nabip.org/who-we-are/board-of-trustees.

During the convention, the membership voted to approve a proposal to increase national dues.

Beginning January 1, 2027, national dues will increase by $100 as a one-time adjustment, replacing the previously scheduled $8 increase for that year. This represents an increase of approximately $8.33 per month and reflects an important investment in the future of our association. Members will see this adjustment when their membership comes up for renewal in 2027. It will not take effect for all members on January 1.

In an announcement to the membership, the Board of Trustees explained that the investment from the changed dues will support:

  • Stronger federal and state advocacy efforts on behalf of agents, brokers and consumers. • Enhanced member engagement and retention initiatives. • Modernized technology and association management systems that improve the member experience. • Added operational support for chapters and national programs. • Continued investment in professional development, communications and member resources.
  • The Board of Trustees stated that the decision represents more than a dues adjustment. It is an investment in a stronger, more connected and more sustainable NABIP.

July Membership Meetings Were a Double Header!

During the second week of July, Northern Nevada member Don Goldmann presented two different ethics classes at the July chapter luncheon meeting and the Nevada State Zoom presentation.

Both classes were CE approved and were well received as informative and entertaining. A third CE ethics class will be presented within the next twelve months to allow everyone to complete the ethics requirements for license renewal.

A “Pre-Pre-View” of the 2027 Healthcare & Insurance Expo

If you’re wondering why we’re talking about the 2027 Expo already, the answer is simple. We’re excited, and we’re ahead of schedule. So instead of giving you a preview, I thought I’d give you a “Pre-Pre-View.”

One of the greatest strengths of our NABIP Northern Nevada chapter has always been our willingness to think ahead. Great events don’t happen overnight. They’re built through months of collaboration, creativity and the dedication of volunteers who believe in serving our members. I’m proud to say that’s exactly what’s happening.

Our Board of Directors has already begun laying the foundation for what we believe will be our best Healthcare & Insurance Expo yet. While there is still plenty of work ahead, the excitement in every planning meeting has been contagious. New ideas are being shared, partnerships are being formed and every conversation centers on one question: How can we make this event even better for our members?

We’re already reaching out to outstanding speakers, securing educational content, developing sponsorship opportunities and working with industry partners who share our commitment to advancing the insurance profession. Our goal is to provide an event that offers practical education, meaningful networking and valuable business opportunities while also creating an experience that is engaging, fun and memorable.

One of the highlights we’re especially excited about is our Cinco de Mayo-themed Expo on May 5, 2027. The theme gives us the opportunity to celebrate our diverse community while creating a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere for agents, carriers, providers and business partners from across Nevada.

Education continues to be at the heart of everything we do. We’re developing sessions that will provide timely insights into Medicare, employee benefits, ACA, legislative updates, leadership, sales strategies and emerging trends that will help our members better serve their clients and grow their businesses. Our goal is for every attendee to leave with new knowledge, valuable connections and ideas they can put into practice immediately.

Of course, an event like this doesn’t happen without incredible support. I want to thank our Board of Directors, committee members, volunteers, sponsors, carrier partners and exhibitors who have already stepped forward with their time, expertise and enthusiasm. Your willingness to invest early speaks volumes about the strength of our chapter and the relationships we’ve built together.

This Expo is about more than one day. It’s about bringing together professionals who are passionate about helping individuals, families, employers and seniors navigate an ever-changing healthcare landscape. It’s about learning from one another, strengthening our industry and reminding ourselves why being part of NABIP matters.

Over the coming months, you’ll begin seeing speaker announcements, sponsorship opportunities, exhibitor information, volunteer opportunities and registration details. We hope you’ll follow along as the event continues to take shape and perhaps even become part of making it happen.

For now, consider this your official Pre-Pre-View. If this is how exciting the planning stage has been, I can only imagine how incredible the Expo itself will be.

Thank you for your continued support of NABIP Northern Nevada. Together, we’re building something special, and I can’t wait to share the journey with all of you.
